Month to Month contract changed to 24months contract without my permission.

I was phoned in November 2020 and offered a black friday deal that was sold to me as a sim only month to month contract.

In the first week of April 2022, I went to the Cell C Cavendish store to cancel my month to month contract, and was told that the terms and conditions changed in February 2022 and that I had to pay a commitment fee if I wanted to cancel my contract as the contract is until January 2023. I never agreed to anything for this contract to change and refuse to pay the commitment fee.

I agreed to a month to month deal and want to cancel my current commitment to Cell C and have my number available to be ported. I see a bunch of these on hello peter and other sites so clearly all of us did not misunderstand you when we signed this deal. My father and sister is sitting with the same issue as they also took the deal.

Just to add to it, they are happy to not charge me a commitment fee if I do an device upgrade now - lol - never. There will probably be a catch that that contract will only start in Jan 2023 and be valid for 24 months from then.
