Mass RICA registrations *****
So my brother lost his cellphone and tried to have his sim swapped (for obvious reasons) to my surprise, he was told the prepaid sim is not "in his name" and therefore he cannot sim swap his number. I understand this concern in your perspective. here's the scenario, he bought his sim at a ****a shop and told me that it was already registered (by who? to this day we will never know) he used his number as a recovery number for his email address and for his NSFAS account so naturally because he cant sim swap his prepaid sim, he lost all access to these facilities. Here's what i battle to understand. How do you give access to people to have the sims registered which they do in their names and sell them to many others under the guise that "its already active"? It is by law that people have their sims RICA registered but a huge number of these sims fall through the net and onto unsuspecting citizens (imagine the rural areas). Surely you could have seen this loophole when you gave your "Agents" access to RICA register sims. All this makes a great case with ICASA which i intent to contact should i not get any satisfaction. HE NEEDS HIS NUMBER BACK, that cant be too much to ask, especially for a prepaid sim.
