LTE coverage just dropped without notice
I am quite upset with Cell C. We made use of their top up data packages for a few years. We however needed more data on a monthly basis as my daughter is studying and does research and uploads/downloads frequently. We got a deal via Bronberg who also makes use of Cell C but can negotiate better prices due to them not being an individual but a company. We've been with them since end of last year. We then also requested Bronberg to upgrade us to their highest package which would have come into effect on 1 April. In the meantime we bought several top-ups on our current package. This weekend suddenly we just don't have any coverage. On querying this at Bronberg it now seems as if Cell C just cancelled the LTE-A coverage in our area because they made some deal or are merging with Vodacom or something like that. We've been using it like in forever and now it is just gone AND they didn't even bother to let Bronberg know??? Apparently Bronberg has 30+ clients who are affected in this way. Now we have a BIG problem because we live in an area without landlines and where we cant make use of other wireless options because there aren't any towers nearby. LTE-A was our only option and it was working just fine. Our top-ups are also gone - R500 down the drain. Shame on you for not taking your clients in consideration (whether direct or indirect clients). Bronberg is still trying to sort this out from their side, I hope you can resolve this.
The recent change you are referring to has to do with the roaming agreement between Cell C and Vodacom where customers voice & data coverage has now been reduced to 2G – which came into effect yesterday.
You need to take this matter up with your service provider which happens to be Bronberg in this case.
