I took a sim card only data contract with Cell C last year 2021. I verified with the sales agent that the line is a month to month contract and that I can cancel in the next few months since I will be installing Fibre. The sales agent guaranteed me that the there will be no cancelation fees just a 30 day notice period. Now when I cancel they tell me I need to pay a penalty fee of R5482.50 for early cancelation. What am I being penalized for since I did not receive any devise from them except sim card and they promised me on the call that there is no cancelation fee. I don't think that this is in line with the Consumer Protection Act nor is it legal to change terms and conditions without consulting the parties involved. I was not about this!!!
