Incorrect marketing to get a sale

I was called and offered an upgrade on my package - I listened to the offer and decided that this was actually a good offer. Double checked that the existing minutes would not be deleted and by when I had to use them and that the additional data was open and I could use it for anything - was told that the existing minutes had to be used by 15.07.2018 and that the "black data" did not require any additional APP or anything. Then I get an SMS informing me that the new package is in place - all my existing free minutes have been deleted (77 of them) replaced by 17 minutes and some nominal amount of data. So I call back and complain - my reckoning is that either Cell C reverse the package back to what it was or credit me the lost minutes. I am told that that the case is being escalated and someone will call me in 24 - 48 hours. Thursday morning, I get a call from someone (unidentified)... who says someone will call me by 12. 12 comes and goes, so I call. They say they someone will call me by close of business. This call never happens. I call on Friday morning, they tell me to call another division .... the long and short of it is that I have been referred to cancellations, retentions, customer care (um seriously nope - give them another name as "care" is definitely an oxy***** when app**** to that delightful bunch) Then I am told to speak to the consultant that sold me the package. So I naively ask for her number - no direct number! Her email - sorry nothing going! So I ask how I am supposed to speak to someone without any contact details, to which I am told that the THEY will send her an email and they will call me back; yeah the mind boggles. Needless to say I receive no call.... bit of a trend here. So I decide not to waste more time tilting at that windmill on a Friday and I wait until Monday. You guessed it! No call. So again I call in - eventually I ask for a manager as being told for the umpteenth time that the complaint has "Been escalated" and an "email" has been sent was more that I was prepared to take on day 4. The manager tells me that someone (???) tried to call me on Friday - I have no call missed, no sms, no email, no WhatsApp. So clearly they were using the less reliable telepathic messaging system to which I'm not a subscriber. I am then told to call upgrades and they will fix it. So I call upgrades and they say the call came from an external company....well now, how the heck would I know if the caller is using the Cell C number and starts by saying that they are calling from Cell C? So I ask to speak to manager 2 .... 45 minutes later - she has not listened to the call yet - although putting me on hold for 15 minutes at a time. She asks if I maybe went into a shop to upgrade, I say no. She then sees who the agent was and says she will speak to the agent in question - you know, the one from the external company who she shouts across to. She says that after she has spoken to him she will call me back, I ask by when this will be and am then summarily told that as I don't want to deal with her and because I am impatient (surely not, it's only been 6 days) that I am lacking in understanding of how things work and she will transfer me back to the agent that sent me to her ; yep the one that couldn't assist. So, patience done and rather that using every expletive in my very extensive repertoire, I hung up. If you work in client services, the words "arrogance" and "sanctimonious" need to be left at home. So rather that offend the delicate sensibilities of someone who is clearly unable to deal with the rigours of client service in the real world, I left. To the final resort - social media, which is by no means ideal, it may though yield the promised call, from the correct person. Oh yeah - today I was also informed that the contract cannot be reversed because my "old" contract no longer exists as a product - so effectively Cell C has just told me to suck it up, cos it ain't gonna change. Delightful. Oh, and as a final parting shot - never compare what one person says with the word of the next - they will contradict each other at best and leave you utterly confused and the lack of knowledge and processes within Cell C. I suppose after this, I can always drive to their head office and jump up and down like a demented leprechaun until someone eventually solves the issue or port my number to the next provider and hope for better service.....
