Handed to Debt Collector for account that I have finished paying.

I have canceled my contract with Cell C on the 30th of July 2020. To my shock, I got an SMS from VVM on the 8th September 2021 saying my account has been handed over to them for non-payment. I thought this was resolved a long time ago. This is affecting my credit rating as I'm listed now as a non-payer for the contract that I finished with Cell C. I have sent emails in February and March 2021 asking for the recording of my conversation with the retention department agent on the day I canceled my contract but nothing has been sent to me instead I'm being handed over to debt collectors. I'm currently in Namibia and I have got difficulties with reception as I'm not Roaming. I will appreciate if they can respond by email.
