Handed over account

I had an account with cell c. And handed over for to mbd initially then to vvm apparently. When I call vvm they say they dont have the account. Now it's a back and forth. So I email cell c back they still says the account is in vvm attorneys. It's now frustrating because I want to make payment arrangement and close the account
