We sincerely apologise for the confusion you've experienced regarding the Free Basics service. Your feedback is valuable, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify the eligibility requirements and activation process.

To qualify for Free Basics, including access to Facebook Free Mode, Cell C Prepaid customers need to either:

• Recharge with any value airtime or load a data bundle every 30 days, OR
• Maintain a positive airtime balance (R1 or more) after the 30-day period.
  
  

Emergency Airtime and Airtime Transfers also count as valid recharges, and each recharge grants an additional 30 days of access.To access Free Mode:

1. Visit m.facebook.com or open the Facebook app on your mobile (not Wi-Fi).
2. Log in to your account.
3. Navigate to the Menu, then tap Mobile Network Settings or Mobile Center.
4. Toggle the option to switch between Data and Free Mode.
