********** Renewal of contract and cell C is dragging its feet

I had a contract with Cell C which was supposed to expire end of February 2023. They called me to ask whether I would like to renew it, and I told them I didn’t want to renew the contract. A few days later I got an SMS saying thank you for renewing your contract with Cell C. When I phoned to enquire about it, I was told the contract had been renewed for 12 months. I told them I never requested the contract to be renewed. They told me I had to do an affidavit at a police station and email it to them with my ID copy. I did that and received an email stating that my query had been received and escalated to the relevant department for assistance and that I will be contacted in 2 business days. A week passed without hearing anything from Cell C and then I decided to phone them, the consultant I spoke with told me there was no update regarding my case and that she would escalate it and I will receive feedback from Cell C within 48 hours. Another week passed without hearing anything from Cell C and when I phoned them again, they told me they still didn’t have any feedback for me. When I asked how long do I have to wait before I can get some kind of feedback as this was a ********** contract upgrade and I can’t wait forever, they told me they didn’t know how long I will have to wait and if I cancel the contract, a contract that I had not consented to in the first place, that I will be liable for cancellation charges. Cell C service is pathetic.
