********** Contract opened in my name

I have never signed up for a Cell C contract nor have I ever had a Cell C number but earlier today I received a message from them that my contract is almost approved. Checked my credit report and there is an enquiry that was made by Cell C. This is unimaginably scary knowing it is this easy for someone to open a ********** contract. I have looked on the internet in search for people that have experienced a similar ordeal and have noted that this is a **** that has been going on for years yet there seems to be no resolution from the company.
