I discovered on Wednesday, 25 April 2018 while I was at Capitec Bank that Cell C listed me on ITC for non-payment. I was astonished because I don't have an account with Cell C. I was advised by the banker assistant that I must go to Cell C to enquire about the matter.
I went to Cell C branch in Carlton Centre to get clarity and I was told by the Cell C consultant that indeed there's were four (4) contracts opened on Friday, 15 December 2017 under my name in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape. I told the Cell C consultant that I have never been to the Eastern Cape nor app**** for a Cell C contract. This can only mean that someone **********ly used my details without my knowledge.
The Cell C consultant advised me to do an affidavit of which I did on the 30 April 2018 at Diepkloof Police Station in Soweto, South of Johannesburg. I then submitted the affidavit at Cell C Carlton Centre on Wednesday, 02 May 2018.
The Cell C consultant (didn't get her name) was very helpful and she advised me that she will fax the affidavit together with my I D document to the Cell C legal department for further investigations. I was given a reference number to use for follow ups.
After several visit to the Cell C branch in Carlton Centre without any progress, I then decided to contact the Cell C call centre on 084 140 to follow up on my case - I explained my ********** matter/case over and over again and I was told they will get back to me within 72 hours and obtained this reference number ********** ********** 15. I didn't receive any response or feedback from Cell C as promised and I phoned again and again and emailed on 11 July 2018. To date I haven't received any feedback from Cell C which is worrying.
I am now listed on ITC which is an inconvenience and bad reflection to my profile.
