***** incident
This is a case of *****. An account was opened over the phone by a lady who impersonated me. She was assisted by an agent by the name of Karabo Kwadibone. The only thing the lady provide was my name and ID number and when I asked the agent if these the only security questions they (cellc agents) ask when opening an account for a client over the phone, she said yes. I then asked if they ask if they at least asked the lady to send for supporting documents to prove the information given, which at this point is my ID no, her residential address which is not mine, proof of income/banking since she provided my account number. The agent then told me that when a client is approved for less than R250 they don't ask for any of those documents. This for me is reckless lending and negligence. Whether a client is approved for R100 or R1000, proof of documentation is always required!! This lady on the recording of the call said that she earns R32800, yet she was only approved for R250. This should already be in question. How can someone who earns so much, only be approved for R250. Using my ID, I only have one account to my name, i'm not in debts anywhere, so if I earned that much, of which I don't, I earn way less, how would I be approved for such a small amount. That clearly proves that this is questionable. These are such things that need companies to require proof of income and banking. I've reported this to Cell C, their ***** department took my details and there hasn't been any response. I will not rest and will take this further.
