Cell C Jewel

Problems : This is a Cell C Jewel phone and although it is quite a nice phone it has some very serious software issues. I will never use the phone for anything other that the following applications : 1 : Voice calls 2 : SMS 3 : Whatsapp 4 : FM Radio 5 : Camera

So I started to notice that the phone keeps on downloading apps that I didn't ask for, or given permission to. Uninstalling these apps did not help, as they would reiinstall within the next few hours. These apps then would start to use data, and when the data is finished, it simply carries on and uses airtime.

I phoned Cell C helpline, only to be informed that this is not a Cell C problem as I bought it from Edgars.

It is a Cell C problem because the Android version in the phone is from Cell C (as can be seen above). I was told this is impossible because Cell C is just a service provider and does not manufacture phones. This may be true but at the same time it is obvious that Cell C has a contract with some or other phone manufacturer to supply these phones so in effect it IS a Cell C phone.

It is evedent that Cell C built in some features that will ensure that the phone will keep on using data (or airtime in the absence of data) so that Cell can generate income for itself without the user's knowledge or consent.

I am really not pleased with the way I (and others) have been treared by Cell C. It appears that this is a general complaint among people who buy Cell phones that are from a service provider, such as this Cell C Jewel, or a Vodaphone. It seems that the service providers have found a way of making money in a very unsavory and ******* manner. I would like to see this rectified.

I know that Android lends itself to this kind of abuse, but that in itself is no reason to ***** from the users of these phones.
