*****, and shocking service from Cell C

During November 2016, I noticed a deduction on my bank account for a Cell C contract that I did not open. I was able to reverse the amount through FNB. In December the deduction from my account re-occurred. I contacted FNB again, and they advised I reverse the amount, and contact Cell C to cancel the account. I went to Cell C Carlswald on 17th December to tell them the story, and to get them to cancel the account.

The store assistant investigated on their system, and was able to tell me that an account had been opened over the phone in my name with all my details, for a cell phone contract. They suggested I open a ***** case with Cell C, for which they required an affidavit.

The affidavit was given to Cell C, with the supporting documentation they required (copy of my ID), and a reference number was given to me ( ********** 553). I then opened a new bank account, and changed all my banking details through FNB.

I called Cell C one month later to follow up on the case. They couldnt track my case as it turns out the Cell C branch had given me a reference number with one digit short. After giving me the correct reference number and them following up, the ***** division was waiting for information about the ********* to compare with mine. They told me that they were able to see his name, surname and address, and they obviously had his Cell C contact number. They were not prepared to give me this information.

I contacted them again on the 7th February 2017 and I am now told that they dont have any of my documentation for the case and that I should submit it again.

I have not been able to speak to any Cell C management, as my options are either a branch assistant, or the call centre.

I am not prepared to give them my details again, but am concerned about being blacklisted, instead of the person who seems to be receiving service from Cell C, even though his account is not being paid.

It is also of concern that despite my having, when I open a cellular contract, to give my provider a lot of information, this contract appears to have been opened without the FICA proces having taken place.

Theodorah advised that you will need to log a section 205 (identity theft) with the police to obtain access to the documents used in this case.

Once Cell C receives the subpoena the information will be released to the police.
