Forcing customers into staying on their contracts

I have a contract with Cell C, which we settled and cancelled (following all the required steps, according to the consultants we were communicating with at the time) last year July. Now, 24 months after the contract was first taken, when it was supposed to end, we find out that the contract was not cancelled, and they even upgraded the contract for us.

When we try to contact the retentions department to find out about the matter, they can't seem to trace how it was never cancelled, and who upgraded this contract. We are also given excuses of how we cannot be helped, bacause of our emotional state.

Cell C has been a bad network, and the customer service has just proven to be horrible. I just want this contract cancelled, and they must stop taking money out of my account.
