Extremely Poor Service and Mismanagement – Very Disappointing

Because I wanted to retain my long-standing number, I was told that I needed to settle the arrears amount of R2,070. I was clearly informed that once the account was settled, my number would be reactivated. I made the payment immediately and sent proof of payment as requested.After the account was settled, the story changed completely. I was then told that I could no longer do a SIM swap to retain my number, even though I had already been instructed to purchase a new SIM card. I was then advised to visit a Cell C store for assistance.At the store, I was told yet another different story — that my number had been permanently deactivated, information that was never disclosed to me before. I was informed that only the store manager could assist. The store manager made copies of my ID and proof of payment, sent an activation request via email, and provided me with a reference number (***4). I was told to follow up via the call centre.It has now been four days of follow-ups, and every time I call, no one knows anything about my case. Each interaction results in conflicting information, with no resolution, accountability, or clear communication.This entire process reflects poor customer service, lack of transparency, and serious internal miscommunication. I paid money based on assurances that were later withdrawn, and I am now left without my number and without proper answers.Cell C needs to urgently improve how they handle contracts, arrears, and customer queries. This experience has caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience, and I would not recommend their services based on this experience.
