Everything wiped from faulty device

In December 2014 i returned a 2nd faulty device from Cell C that wouldnt come on - approx 7 months. I requested that all videos / pics / music etc be saved as I was unable to retrieve. I get a call today advising me that the repair centre has indeed cleaned up that device - without advising me of their actions. How is this possible? I went for a concert in june last year and had all my recording there etc. Is Cell C going to now send me overseas to see this band again as my only memories of this night that I drove all the way from Durban to Pretoria to see is NOW ALL GONE!!!!
