Don't change your contract debit order date or you will fight.

Yho yho yho! Do not change your debit order date if you are on contract with them or you will be fighting.

I've been on contract with Cell C for over a year, and everything was fine until I called them after my October payment to change my debit order date from the end of every month to the 7th of each month. Since then, it has been a battle.

I have a clean payment record; I’ve never missed a debit order. However, they charged me double on December 6, 2024, plus added arrears after I requested the change to my debit order.

I was supposed to pay a specific amount for November. You would think that after changing the debit order date to December 6, I would be paying for November first, and then on January 7, I would pay for December. But that wasn’t the case.

When I called to inquire, they informed me that I had missed the payment for November and that they were also charging me for December. I asked how they could charge me for December when we were still in early December. They were essentially forcing me to pay for December in advance while the month had just begun. I ended up reversing the payment and paying the amount due for November on December 6.

Then, on January 2, 2025, I received an email stating that I’m in arrears and owe them another amount. You would expect that they would debit what I owe on the 7th, in line with my new agreement. I have absolutely no idea what is going on, so paid the new amount and emailed them to inquire and will update you once they respond.

A few minutes later, I received a reply from a wonderful gentleman named Landi. He was patient and persistent in his calls, ensuring that the entire incident was resolved. I give 5 stars to Landi and 5 stars to Hellopeter! I've found that my issues are addressed more quickly when I file a complaint on this site. And Thank you Cell C for employing wonderful people like Landi.
