Don't even consider Cell C- Aneurisms may result

To those considering the switch from another Network to Cell C or renewing their contracts with this company, I urge you to reconsider.

I have been a loyal customer for nearly 4 years and have spent a cumulative fortune with Cell C. Never once did I request any special treatment or handout. All I ever wanted was to get what I paid for. I won't lie, things started out great.

When I started with them, they had the best deals on handsets, as well as the best in, and out of bundle data rates. I felt like I'd hit the jackpot. How wrong I was. Signing up was not a problem, the staff were great at convincing me that things were going to be good. What I now know is that they were trained ***** s****ping for commission at the expense of the unwitting, well intentioned customer. If I could go back in time, I would gladly take the money spent with Cell C and light it on fire, at least the resultant flame would provide some value for money.

Negative experience number 1:

Over time I realised that the signal that Cell C provided was exceptionally unreliable. You would think that a network that wanted to establish themselves would get the basics right. I should have seen the warning signs. IDIOT! Still, I soldiered on blindly, hoping that things would get better. *SPOILER ALERT* they didn't...

Negative experience number 2:

One of the major attractions to Cell C was the 15c out of bundle data rate. That was probably the main reason that I chose the company. It was great in the beginning, but then one day, the carpet was unceremoniously ripped from beneath my feet. That was the day that, a sneakky SMS was sent out to their entire database, slighly whispering the fact that they were going to ***TUPLE (multiply by 6) that rate. Obviously, I didn't read that text, who reads texts anymore right? BAM! R2500 bill ensued. When I questioned them about that they just pointed me to that damn SMS. To me, that constitutes theft. They stole from me on that day and likely from a whole lot of other custmers too. They probably used that extra revenue to shoot their weirdly extravagant advert of 65 celebrities on a F##n yacht. To me, that just shows how far removed they have become from their customers. How insulting... Believe it or not, I continued to persisted with Cell C.

Negative experience number 3:

At this point I run the risk of losing your interest. I apologize. I just want you to know how immensely evil this money sapping organism is. 13 months into my last contract, my Huawei handset had a software issue. When I brought the phone in, the gleeful response from the *********** staff at the George branch was that the warranty had expired the month before (obviously) and that the repair would take a minimum of 21 days and I would need to sell my kidney to pay for it. I know that they are not responsible for the length of the warranty, but they are responsible for the customer's satisfaction right? Hopefully they close their doors, I would then be satisfied. I took the phone to a friend with some technical knowledge and he repaired it for free within 2 hours. Nice.

Last 1:

After being treated like a ********* at an airport for 4 years I finally gave up the fight and decided to cancel my contract. I called the branch in George (mistake number 1 million) and asked when and how I needed to do it. The lady advised that I should write a letter and bring it to the branch (like they did in the 1800's) and that I needed to do it before 1 November. Yesterday (27 October), I did exactly that... After standing at the counter for a while without being acknowledged, a laughing, lazy looking consultant emerged from the back where he had clearly been devising a way to make his customers lives worse (hence the laughter). Once again we was delighted to inform me that I could no longer cancel this way (not joking) and that I had to dial a specific number between random, strangely short office hours. REALLY?? "Yes, really..." He looked tired of fighting, clearly this evil corporation leaves its staff to fight its battles on the frontlines while the fat cats at the top think of cool things to buy themselves with my money. Probably jet skis, that would be my guess. Putting a barrier between the customer and a cancellation is an offence punishable by insolvency if you ask me. I work in insurance, you get fined for that sh%t.

On top of all that, the packages on offer these days are amongst the most expensive in the market. The data bundles are too. Cell C is a company that deserves to be forgotten, and if they continue to treat customers the way they do, they certainly will be. I expect I will receive a generic "we are sorry about your experience" response to this. Unless , of course, they are too lazy for that too.
