For the past two weeks, I’ve been trying to add another contract to my account. The vetting and credit checks are completed quickly and without any issues; you select the contract, are told stock should arrive within a day or two, and then… nothing. The waiting starts, the follow-ups begin, and none of it yields any results.
I even approached Cell C directly and visited two additional branches to see if they could fulfil the order instead — also a complete waste of time. The real concern is this: why take customers through the entire process when you already know you won’t be able to deliver on the expectations you’ve created? Why advertise these deals online and in-store when you know stock isn’t actually available? Why not be transparent from the outset instead of putting customers through unnecessary vetting and credit checks for items you cannot supply?
For a company that has just listed on the JSE, these inefficiencies do nothing to inspire confidence — neither for consumers nor for shareholders. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Shouldn’t the customer experience, operational efficiency, and reliability be the very things that build confidence, support revenue growth, and demonstrate value to shareholders? Instead, long-standing customers are being pushed to consider alternative service providers purely because of preventable operational shortcomings.
