DO NOT TAKE A CELL C CONTRACT OVER THE PHONE !!!!!!!!!!
The absolute worst service I have ever received! DO NOT TAKE OUT A CELL C CONTRACT OVER THE PHONE! You WILL regret it!! CELL C does not want you to resolve your queries. They add mountains and mountains of the process between you and the agents so that no single person is responsible for resolving your query and giving you feedback. They seemingly want you to give up! Well, I won’t give up!! Almost 4 months later and I am still waiting for my query to be resolved. Shocking! I was contacted by a Cell C agent in June 2017 to do a telephonic upgrade to my contract. I explained to the agent that I cannot afford to pay more than R849 per month as I am no longer receiving a cell phone allowance from my employer. The agent then sold me a Pinnacle 250 contract and confirmed that I would not pay more than R849 per month. The contract included 250 anytime minutes and 2GB data. He read the terms and conditions which comprised om my rights to cancel the upgrade within 5 days and alike. The conversation lasted 42 minutes during which time I repeated confirmed that the cost. Not once, during the entire conversation, did the agent advise that the contract is open-ended and that I have to call Cell C to manually adjust my contract limits. I was then charged R849 for 2.5 GB data in November and then charged R1935 for 5 GB data in January!! That is insane!!! Who in their right mind would pay R1935 for 5GB data! A 5 GB Data Bundle R399. That is a 485% Markup!! I queried it via the Customer Care Centre on or about 9 January 2018 (As soon as I received by January bill). The agent advised that the charge was due to out of bundle rates and that I was supposed to call to manually adjust the limits. I then stated that I was never informed of this requirement and specifically asked that my contract must not exceed R849. After much debate, the adjusted the data limit to R1 for me so that I could never again receive such a ridiculous data bill. The created an escalation for me also. After repeatedly phoning back to the Cell C call centre, I eventually got hold of an agent called Ncumi. She called me back on or about 23 January (+-3pm in the afternoon) and confirmed that she has listened to the entire recording of when I took out the upgrade. The confirmed that she agrees with my statement – I was never informed that I have to manually adjust my limits with the call centre. The further stated that she will request the back office and billing department to credit my account. Since then, no progress has been made. I have escalated the matter several times, I have spent over 10 hours on the phone, I have over 6 escalation reference numbers. None of which have been closed! I was previously requested to go to a Cell C store and listen to the recording myself. The store could not locate the call and due to internal administrative issues, the matter was again delayed. Eventually, a lady from the Hemmingways branch took pity on me and emailed me the recording directly. I again listened to the entire 42 minutes. Not once was I advised that I have to manually adjust any limits! I have begged each Call Centre agent to also listen to the recording. To no avail. The last agent I spoke with was on 8 Match 2018. The agent, Murel, advised that she has emailed the retentions department and I will have feedback within 48 hours. The apologised for the inconvenience and concurred that the matter should never have taken this long. Well, it’s been close to 168 hours and STILL NO FEEDBACK, AGAIN! I demand that my account be corrected and that I am compensated with the hours and hours I have wasted to clear this matter. Not to mention the driving around to stores who do not even know about recordings that head office claimed to have sent.
