On tuesday, the 13th of november I bought a cellphone, hauwei P20 lite at edgars and took it with a cell C sim card and I insured the phone with edgars. 2 days later, on Thursday, the 15th my house got broken into and ****** the new phone was taken with its box and I didn't know the cell number of the cell c sim card that was in the phone yet. I went to edgars and enquired, they told me I can claim the phone as it gets insured immediately. I was given the procedure on what to do. I needed an ITC reference number so I had to go to cell C as network provider of the phone, I have the IMEI number of the phone. At cell C I was asked the cell number of the cell C sim card that was in the phone I told them I don't know the number as the phone was still new and they said they can't anything if I don't know that number. I was surprised, they were my network provider mos. They did have my details on their system but not the cell number, surprisingly. So I was told to go back to edgars and asked, they also didn't have the number so I can't claim my phone because of this. At edgars I was given an advice to go to cell C and for a letter stating that they can't blacklist my phone because of the missing number so the claim can move forward people have done before and they showed some of the claims like this being approved. Cell C refused. I mean I am not sure who should I blame here, cell C or edgars because one of the two businesses must have that number, where does the RICA information go to. Please.
