Disgusting service from cellc pavilion

Good day

I Mrs L Chetty, went into the Cellc Pavilion branch on the 29th February 2016 to upgrade my contract when I walked into the store I asked the sales consultant assist as I was interested in the Sony Z5 compact. To my knowledge Sony is one of the best brands. However the sales consultant asked me what phone I am currently using and I advised him that I was using the Lg2. He then advised to that the Lg4 is the best on the market at the time and why would I want to upgrade to Sony Z5 as the Lg4 was a better phone. He then showed me a dummy version of Lg4 that you could not even navigate or do anything with it , which I was still not too keen on as I did didn’t like the leather finish and the diamond shape finish cover , but he still continued to advise me of how brilliant the phone was. He could clearly see I was not too keen however I decided on signing the 24month contract without reading the fine print and agreed to take the phone. During this time that he was help assisting me he was also assist another customer at the same time. He did advise me that if I am unhappy I should come back within 7 days. I am aware of the seven day policy.

During this time the phone seal was broken by the sales consultant and was placed back into the box, I took the phone home and never used it or opened it as is was not excited about this new phone. On the 1st March 2016 I was advised by a relative that the Lg5 was releasing in a month’s time. This made me very upset as is was not excited about the phone that I had taken and the Lg5 was looking really awesome on line.

On the 2nd March 2016 I took the phone back to store requesting that I go back to month to month until the Lg5 was launched. Being the loyal cellc customer for the past 10years and within the 7 day period I expected cellc to assist me. The sales consultant said that there is nothing they can do and should try at Umhlanga only they will be able to take in phones, I contacted them and they were not able to assist me.

I then went back to cellc spoke to the branch manager and he was not helpful either he advised me that the sales consultant is with cellc for a long time and is one of the best sale consultant they have. I have to admit he persuaded me to take a phone I had no interest in and was able to deal with 2 customers at the same time. He had so be the best as all he was interested in sales numbers and not customer satisfaction. If he is the best sales consultant even if he was not briefed on new phones he should be doing his own home work on phones as that is his passion. He should have advised me to wait for the Lg5 or take some time to think about the taking the phone as he could see that I was not to keen.

When I went back the sales consultant did not even show any sign of assistance he was just busy making more sales. When we eventually spoke to him he said he was not being responsible for the phone and has nothing to do with it and walked away while we were still talking to him. Is this how cellc treat their unhappy customers. The branch manager advised that he will escalate the query and contact me. I was never contacted, when I call on Monday the 07th March 2016 the branch manager advised he will call me Thursday at 10am, when I did not receive a response on Friday the 11th March 2016 I called in around 12 and he advised he will have a response for me by 2pm and advised again that he will not be able to cancel the contract or assist me in any way.

I still have the phone in its original packaging still not used. I would like to know the way forward as I am not able to pay for the remaining term and I don’t want the phone. I don’t mind going back on a month to month for now until I am ready to upgrade again on a phone that I really want and like.

I should have consumer rights? What about the customer is always right? Sales consultants are so good sales and forget about actually giving advice and assistance or excellent customer service.

At the time i was 5 months pregnant and stood in the store for over an hour and no one offered me a chair. When you walk in for sales they immediately ask u to have a seat and offer their useless assistance.

Can someone please help me…
