Disappointed
On the 24th February 2018 I visited the Westgate branch to upgrade my contract. I was assisted by a sales person by the name of Doris. I was initially impressed as Doris understood my frustration with my current contract and came up with a viable solution. I am sorry to report that I have now discovered that I was given the incorrect information from the get go. I decided to take the LG Q6 deal for R429 a month which included R1000 cash back and a set of headphones. I was also advised that instead of buying an additional data bundle each month to rather use the R1000 cash back to buy a mobile wifi router and to get a SIM only deal of 20Gb data a month for R199 bringing my total monthly spend to R629 which was R10 more than my current monthly spend and I would not risk running out of data. Here is were the deception started.... I was told that the R1000 cash back would be in my bank account the following day and I could then come and buy the router and the SIM card was activated. I was further told that I was lucky to have come when I did as the price of the data deal would be increased as of 28 February 2018. It was explained to me that there would be a R195 once off payment for the SIM card activation and an ad-hoc fee for the data loaded onto the SIM card between the 24th and 28th February 2018. I was further advised to phone the call center or come in on the 1st March 2018 to set the available spend limit on the new cellphone contract as she was unable to do it until the new month. The next day there was no payment of R1000 into my account and on further investigation i found out that the cash back would only be paid into my account within 5 working days - it was only processed by LG on the 26th February 2018 and the payment made on the 27th February 2018. I could therefore only get the wifi router on the afternoon of the 28th February 2018 and therefore was not able to use the "ad-hoc data" allocated to the SIM card before it expired on the 1st March 2018. Yesterday I received my invoice for March 2018 and was surprised to see that my account was R1045.00!!!! Shocked I went back to the store to find out why my account had nearly doubled as I was expecting R629. There I was assisted by another sales person and I was informed that the new contract would only be effective 1st April 2018 and I was still being billed at the old contract rate for March 2018 - At no point during my upgrade process was I informed of this. I also found out that the data deal was still exactly the same and there had been no "price increase" and there was therefore no rush to take out the contract. Had I known that the cellphone contract would only be effective 1 April 2018 I would have only taken out the data contract then. Also added to my mammoth account was the ad-hoc data I was unable to use and the SIM connection fee (which has already been deducted from my bank account on the 28th February 2018). The only assistance I received at the branch was shrugged shoulders and a "its only once off". Due to the deception and incorrect information received, Cell C has placed me in a very difficult position as I now have to try and figure out how I am going to pay for a double cellphone account that I have not budgeted for. Deception & dishonesty is not a very ethical way to sell contracts! I am disappointed to say the least.
