Disappearing Data

I have a data contract with Cell C where I get 50 GB anytime data and 50 GB night time data. For the past 3 months I have not exceeded either of my data limits and have had approximately 40 GB in total left over at the end of each of the three months.

However, on 3 July I noticed I could not connect to the internet and upon investigating I noticed that my anytime data had been depleted. I checked the data history of all mobile devices in the house, checked if my PS or laptop had downloaded any updates recently, but nothing had used the data. I was also not even at home on the 1st or 2nd of July. On the 3rd I didn't do anything data intensive - I was only browsing the internet on my phone until I ran out of data.

I then proceeded to contact Cell C to check if there was a problem on their side because this had to be a mistake. The first person I spoke to just said that nothing can be done and that I will have to buy additional data (imagine replacing my 50 GB at R149 per GB!!!). Then I spoke to a team leader that told me that they can perform data validation to check if there are any discrepancies.

I waited two days only to find out that data validation can only be performed at month-end which isn't really of any use to me since I will get my new data allowance for the new month then anyway. And besides, what if this happens again? Then I will be without data for another month until they can perfrom validation.

What I find strange is that my night time data hasn't vanished...I have the same devices using the internet during the night and day but somehow only my anytime data vanished? Also, the sms' I received on the data sim do not align with the disappearance of my data. They seem sporadic, as if it was a system error on Cell C's side.

I want my data back Cell C. And I want it back this month. Fix your mistake and give back what I am paying for. I wouldn't be surpised if this is a sneaky way of trying to force people to buy additional data to rob them of more money.

If you can prove to me that I used 50 GB of data in what was effectively half a day at home then I will come back on here and change my rating. Until then, give back what is mine! And please, don't take a month to do it!!
