Deceived by Cell C into buying data that I don't need

I purchased data using the Cell C App. The data I purchased was 500mb for r5- and 37 stickers I think. Once I purchased the data, I got an SMS saying that I purchased Facebook data. I called into the call centre and the lady logged onto my account, saw exactly what I saw, said she understood, but there was nothing that she could do. When I purchased the data, there was no clear mention that I was purchasing Facebook data, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. I use that data to look for work as I'm currently unemployed. Every bit counts so I thought it was a good deal, only to be deceived by Cell C

A representative from Cell C, Ntibi, did reach out to me and was polite in her interaction. However, my overall impression of the company remains negative, and I would not recommend their services to others.

She offered to convert the Facebook-specific data I had purchased into regular data, stating that this was the only resolution available. Unfortunately, no goodwill gesture or courtesy compensation was offered, despite the inconvenience caused.

The issue stems from what I believe to be unclear and misleading advertising on the Cell C app. There was no clear indication that the data bundle was limited to Facebook usage, which led me to purchase the wrong product. After unsuccessful attempts to resolve the matter through the call center, I had to escalate the issue by lodging a complaint on HelloPeter. The problem was only resolved a day later, and even then, the outcome was simply the correction of what I had originally intended to purchase.

Overall, I find this level of service disappointing. The lack of clear communication, the difficulty in getting support, and the absence of any goodwill gesture reflect poorly on Cell C. For these reasons, I cannot recommend them as a reliable service provider.
