I received an sms on the 07/07/2017 from the Cell C network stating that my Cell C account has been inactive. 'To keep your number and stay active on the Cell C network please recharge before the 06/08/2017.' The 17/07/17 was the last time a call was received on the given number, when dialled it states that the number does not exist. On the 21/07/2017, I lodged an incident (which requires a reason for contact and has a message tab where I explained the issue)on the Cell C website and received an e-mail with an incident number 170 ********** 31. According to the e-mail I would've received a call within 24-48 hours. On the 22/07/2017 I received an e-mail from ********** have received your email regarding your account.Kindly note that we have attempted to reach you telephonically on the below number without success: ********** 375. My response to the e-mail was: The reason that you could not reach me on that number is precisely the reason why I lodged a query. On the 'write to us' tab on the website it requests the cellphone number and as well as a telephone number. On the telephone number tab I placed another cellphone number which is a number that I can be contacted on. That evening, I called 084 140 and spoke to Olwethu. I attempted to give him the incident number that I received but was insistent on me having to explain the issue to him (perhaps because he doesnt have access to that information). Olwethu told me that the cellphone number in question had been deactivated. When I asked how, it was explained that it was an in-store deactivation. I stated that I had never been to any store to deactivate the service, my following question was what is the procedure to deactivation and I was told that I would have to confirm personal details etc. in order to process. I explained that that deactivation process seemed suspicious as I had not done the deactivation and whoever had, had done so **********ly. Olwethu explained that once a number has been deactivated, there is no way to reactivate it or to do a sim swop, I thanked him and left it as that. On the 23/07/17 I received a call from Kim (not certain if the name is correct but that was what I heard) in response to the e-mail that I had sent, she stated that the cellphone number had been deactivated. I explained that I had been informed that it was an in-store deactivation of which I am denying. She then asked if the cellphone number had been inactive, my response was that it had not been in use for sometime but was not 100% sure how long had it been since the last recharge. Kim stated that if the service was not used in the last three months it will automatically be deactivated. I stated that I can understand that as I had received an sms on the 07/07/17 stating that the account had been inactive and if it is not recharged by the 06/08/2017 it would be deactivated. I went on further to explain that the designated number had been allocated to a Non-profit Organisation that was not operational pending the approval of certain applications, the organisations letterhead, logo, e-mail address and organisation stamp has this number on it as a contact number. Kim requested that I take a screenshot of the sms and forward it to ********** As I had forwarded the sms e-mail to the organisations e-mail on the 21/07/17, I felt it appropriate to forward that e-mail to ********** I had not seen the response from Cellc stating that the e-mail sent was not the e-mail address associated to the incident and only learnt that on the 26/07/2017. I then forwarded the sms e-mail from the associated e-mail address on that day and had not received any feedback in response since. On the 30/07/2017 I called 084140 and spoke to Nkosinathi, he too was not concerned with the incident number and prefered that I explain what happened directly to him. He confirmed once again that the number had been deactivated and suggested that I send an e-mail to ********** I wondered if I had been sending e-mails to the incorrect e-mail address all along. His suggestion was that I state my name, i.d number, cellphone number in question and the nature of the complaint, I then told Nkosinathi that I had already done so...I was placed on hold for about a minute. When Nkosinathi returned he admitted that there had been an issue with deactivated accounts and suggested that I call Cell C's Head office ( ********** -Cell C Business but this is a prepaid account) as they had not received any feedback/information in this regard.

Best regards,
Received a call this afternoon from Maropeng of Cell C, who assisted me with this issue. The solution offered to me was that I purchase another sim card, get it Rica'ed and then the deactivated number reinstated. The solution did cost me a trip to the mall (petrol), buying a new sim card and my time but I am glad that it is rectified and the same cellular number has been allocated.

Have a lovely day further.
