Data Contract Cancelled - Confirmed - but Billed AGAIN - Persistent about Payment - VERY SHODDY ACCOUNTS Dept.

TWO problems have resulted in me completely losing my patience with this extremely inefficient company. The first was Cell C continuing to bill be for a GetMore facility that was cancelled November 2015 (confirmed by GetMore). 21 months' payments subsequently made and they only began sorting this out after I threatened to cancel my THREE Cell C contracts with renewal dates 21 October 2017. STILL awaiting the refund details. NOW: I instructed them to cancel my Data Bundle when I arranged for two Cellphone upgrades in July 2017 to be effective October 2017 because my one upgrade would include 3 times the data capacity. I again called to ensure the contract would be cancelled - 07Sep2017 - Spoke to Sade - Ref: ********** ********** 61 - She confirmed the cancellation would be effective 07Oct2017. However, Cell C then proceeded to send me statements for my Cell accounts, INCLUDING the cancelled Data Bundle, to be paid at the end of October 2017. When I reminded them the Data Bundle was CANCELLED via email 09Oct2017, I received a call from Mervyn Pietersen in Customer Care about the GetMore problem, but I also discussed this matter and he was supposed to get it sorted out. I subsequently spoke to one Tsheko who confirmed that the contract was cancelled effective 07Oct2017 but tried to convince me to pay it in any event and they would then pass a credit (to a cancelled account) in November 2017! I also spoke to Tshepo from Customer Relations today - he called me ) and he had the same response. Notwithstanding the fact that I reminded them that only government departments get away with this dubious tactic, they appear to be determined to stick to this strategy! I must mention that staff members who only call me back after I give them a POOR SERVICE RATING (to enquire WHY I gave them that rating). I have pointed out that there is a CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT that prevents them from trying to cheat their customers, but this has had no effect on them. Each time they promise to sort out the problem but so far nothing appears to be happening. I have also told them that I will refuse to accept delivery of the new Cellphone unit and cancel both the remaining contracts if I do not receive confirmation that this matter has been resolved to my satisfaction by 21 october 2017 - but that gives them a mere 3 working days and if they haven't done anything for so long, I doubt whether they will accomplish what appears to be impossible for anyone at Cell C by Friday. I thought this post might prompt management to intervene.

I received a call from Derrick Makhubele this afternoon that, at long last, appears to have resulted in a final resolution to my complaint. It's unfortunate that it took a lot of threats and bad attitude to obtain this result, but Derrick finally agreed to issue a credit for the Data Bundle and also confirmed that they have passed a credit for the GetMore payments (unfortunately no interest) that will be credited to my cellphone account. I suggested that he convince senior management to listen to the recording of our discussion because I have highlighted various items that Cell C could adopt that would improve their service to their clients. Thanks also to Hellopeter.com for providing this platform that seems to generate the right amount of pressure on companies to help clients resolve issues with them.

Well, it seems that Derrick Makhubele did NOT get the problem of the GetMore facility resolved after all. I have received my latest Cell C statements and not only have they ONCE AGAIN included a billing for this facility, but they have done so TWICE on one statement. Furthermore, the refund of the previously overpaid amount of R1,239 over 21 months that, according to Derrick Makhubele SHOULD have been credited to this account is STILL NOT SHOWING. Notwithstanding the fact that I sent a personal email to derrick Makhubele on 07th November in which I very clearly stated my intention of taking matters further if I received no positive response by close of business on Friday 10th November 2017, he has not had the courtesy to respond to me - so here I am again - the ongoing saga of Cell C NOT providing an acceptable level of service and continuing to get me to pay for a facility that was already cancelled (and confirmed by themselves) in November 2015! The other annoying thing that was confirmed by Derrick Makhubele is the fact that the upgrade that I was sold by one Ntabiseng at Cell C Call Centre - that was due to be activated on 21st October 2017 - has not even been logged for processing! In a way I believe this might be a good thing because now I have one lss contract to physically cancel with them! Quite frankly, I have absolutely no confidence in discussing this matter with anyone in the accounts or call centre departments at Cell C, so perhaps someone can put me in touch with someone SENIOR at this annoying company - or even the official OMBUD (if there is one) for Cellular companies.
