Credit card details change every two years

I have a debit order for data that goes off smoothly every month with Cell C.

Yesterday I informed Cell C of my new credit card number after being told that my bank, FNB had not honoured the payment after the credit card number had changed.

However Cell C has threatened me twice with cutting me off.

I rang again today.

Finally the lady concerned phoned me again.

She said that she wanted the numbers on the back of the card.

Now I am even more worrried because, apparently she did not do her job yesterday.

I contacted the relevant lady but I do not know if she has actioned payment.

This is not my fault.

There should be a way for FNB to honour payments when they come from the old credit card number.

The first we know that there is a problem is when this happens.

This takes up precious time and causes needless stress - and stress shortens life.

I am a medical doctor, poet and author who has been awarded both the Olive Schreiner and Nadine Gordimer prizes.
