Check your statement, Cell C may be charging you more

In December of 2023 an additional service was added on my contract ad an additional cost. When i called Cell C i was told that i called in on 7 December 2023 to add that service and i also used their USSD line to purchase additional data. Cell C said that the USSD request was using my Sim Card in different phones to which i was promised a recording and IMEI numbers of those phone. Between the 5th and 13 December i was in ICU due to a car crash and when i told Cell C that i was in hospital they requested medical records as proof of hospitalization which i submitted. ( my phone was ****** during the car crash) I waited close to 3 months for the recording and the imei numbers and i then decided not to pay contract. 7 days later my phone was closed and i could not make nor receive calls. i sent several emails and made a lot of calls and no one assisted. i wrote my review about this on hello peter and 2 hours later i received a call from Cell C and my line was reopened. ( thank you hello peter)

in the middle of September i decide to write another to the CEO's office and i received a call. Cell C was now telling that there is no recording and the additional service was actually not a call but was requested through their USSD line.

At this point this information is useless and my chances of recovering phone is less than 1%. As compensation cell c is offering me 10gig data as compensation of the lies and stress they caused me - During the time my phone was shut, i lost a few clients that could not get hold of me during the that time ( i run a micro lending business). what i am going to do with 10 gig data though since i get 10 gig a month on my contract, since i have a 240 gig contract with another service provider and a fibre contract at my house.

i have been a loyal high end contract cell c client for more than 15 year and i think i need to divorce this company. but before i divorce them i need to encourage everyone using Cell C to check their monthly statements just incase they may be over charged. -

 Dear Thabo Makwela,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

We sincerely apologize for the stress, inconvenience, and loss this situation has caused you. We fully understand your frustration, especially given the circumstances of your hospitalization and the impact on your business. We deeply regret the delays in resolving your request and the miscommunication regarding the recording and IMEI numbers. Your loyalty over the past 15 years means a great deal to us, and it’s disheartening to hear that we’ve let you down.

As for the compensation offered, we understand that the 10GB data may not be helpful in your case, given your existing data plans and fiber connection. Please note that we have escalated the matter to our team to see if they can find a more suitable resolution that reflects the seriousness of your experience. One of our consultants will make contact with you within 24 hours to further assist.

Regards,
Cell C | GN
