I've been a cell c customer since 2018 and have been very happy with the service to a point I had 5 contracts with them at one point. I recommended them to everyone. In 2023 my SIM card suddenly got damaged for no reason at all. I did SIM swap and moved on. 2024 around october again the same SIM card got damaged again. This is causing so much inconvenience since this is the SIM card that I use the most and all my accounts are linked to this number. I called the customer service line and they said everything is fine on their side it means the SIM card is damaged I must do a SIM swap again. I tried doing a SIM swap with their call centre agents but failed +-10 times, mind you I answered everything right. Then I was "advised" to got to store where I paid R150 for a SIM swap. On Tuesday 9/9/25 morning my SIM card stopped working again. I called the customer service line and I was told that software updates damage the SIM card, HOW is that possible when I switch off my data and wi-fi when I go to sleep at night and I allow updates manually and the last update was late July/ early August. I will not pay for another SIM card because this seems to be a money making **** by cell c to deliberately damage SIM cards and people will have to pay R50-R150 per SIM swap to continue using their numbers. As a contract customer in thinking of cancelling all my current contracts with cell c. Very Disappointed
