I,Robert Patchappen (I.d.no.***) took a new contract on 19/03/2018 with Cell C at their Davenport Branch, for a Huawei P10 Lite Black Top Phone with a 24 month Contract @ R339.00 per month. Although I had given all my details to Cell C which included my bank details for the debit order date, that was set by Cell C for the 30th of the month, they failed to activate the debit order on their side(of which I have a copy of the contract which clearly shows the debit order date as 30th. I received a letter from Cell C on 13 July'2018 advising me that my account was in arrears, and demanding that I pay R5442.75 within seven days from the date of this letter, and that my account had been handed over to their legal department. This does not auger well for Cell C's reputation as a reputable service provider.I say this, because I do not see myself as the guilty party here,as I had given my bank details to Cell to have the debit order activated with my bank. The issue here should not be seen a willing non-payment on my part, but as a negligence on the part of Cell C for not activating the debit order with my bank. I re-iterate that I am willing to pay my contractual liability, and suggest that Cell C double debit my account until such time that my account is no longer in "arrears",so to speak, and thereafter, revert to the normal monthly premiums.I also require that Cell C reverse all other charges that were raised on my account,as I am certainly not at fault in this instance. I have never had any bad accounts or accounts in arrears at any time previously, and certainly do not appreciate Cell C blemishing my credibility through no fault of mine. I would appreciate If Cell C can consider my proposal as I certainly have not caused my account to go into arrears knowingly of willfully, but Cell C have,by not activating the debits against my account. Furthermore.I advise that I receive my bank statements every six months and not monthly.I looked at my bank statements that I had received at the end of June'2018 and noticed that no debits from Cell C went through my bank account. Therefore I am adamant, that Cell C D did not activate the debit orders against my bank account for the monthly installments from inception to June'2018. It is evident that Cell C is the guilty party here ,and because of their mishap,I require that they waiver all debits that they have raised against my account . I am prepared to pay my monthly installments.only, and not a cent more. Their call centre's phoned me on numerous occasions regarding my account and I told them the very same that I have told you regarding payment, but every person I had spoken to were not helpful regarding my willingness to pay my installments as per my proposal. Kindly assist and advise my stance on this issue. The reason is ,I had app**** for a bond with Absa Home Loans, (with whom I have current bond accounts for the last 10 to 15 years),but was turned down.I am of the opinion that this could be the reason for Absa turning down my request. I await you assistance in this regard. Kind Regards Robert Patchappen.
