CELL VIOLATES HUMAN RIGHTS OF FOREIGNERS

My name is Donald Badze. My passport number is FN497047. I'm a Zimbabwean national residing in South Africa. I was a victim of xenophobic harassment from a manager of Cell C - Telecommunications service provider in South Africa. The manager at Cell C Shop Mall of the North Polokwane insulted me and threatened my life when I made it aware to him that I was going to disclose his unprofessional behaviour and xenophobic tendencies to his senior management. I have reported the issue to ICASA (Complaint reference number LIM 013579/22) , the Giyani magistrate's Court (File number POH 04/23), Polokwane Magistrate's Court ( H18, 23) and to Cell C Customer Service ( Case No. ***) but my issue is not being pursued fairly and with urgency hence the necessity to engage Human Rights bodies to intervene in this case.

Senior Management in Cell C is well of aware of the incident but I have not received feedback from them on the steps they are taking to resolve this matter. Cindy Stoltz (Area Sales and Operations Manager) drove to my house to hear the story first hand and claims she passed on the issue to her superior Mr Marius Erasmus whom to date has not issued any statement pertaining to this issue. The Regional Manager of Cell C Mall of the North- Dikeledi Nchabeleng is also aware of the incident but they have not been forthcoming to this extent. Instead, she issued an apology via email which was recalled by cell C in a matter of hours. Mall of the North wrote an apology which was very far from sincere, which carries with it no acknowledgement of any wrong doing. Which quotes :

" Good day

As from us Mall of the North and Manager we like to apologize".

I have in my possession evidence of the disrespect and unprofessional treatment I endured from the management in Cell C because of my nationality. I have reason to still fear for my life because to date nothing has been done to guarantee my safety from cell C , or from any parties I reported the incident to . I feel their reluctance is attributed to the fact that I am a foreign national . My case has not been awarded urgent attention yet my life still lies in peril.

I fear that if these xenophobic tendencies which are now dormant within business organizations that interact with persons of different nationalities on a daily basis - if not addressed promptly will manifest themselves in drastic and devastating consequences to society. People harbouring this dislike for foreign nationals', if allowed continued existence in the productive sectors of the economy, development is at the expense of democracy and unity is a facade.

It my sincere plea to any persons holding positions of influence and power to share this vision to have a society that upholds equal rights and justice for all humanity. To promote Unity among us as Africans, to do away with racial ************** and to respect all persons of diverse culture, colour , ethnicity and religious disposition.

I implore you to use any resources you have at your disposal to expose these unjust acts against foreign nationals and to bring to justice the perpetrators thereof so that unity and democracy thrives in Africa.
