Cell Rivonia Sim swap

I feel the sim swap process is stupid. I called the call Centre i was told security failed i need to go to the store with my ID, i went to the store Cell C Rivonia with my ID and i was asked 5 numbers that also failed why is that the only process used as security, he didn't even check my ID, this blond headed guy simply said that's the only process and could not help me get my number back.... I want my number back i have it linked to a lot of my things and i lost my phone he said the status shows stil active but i should rather get a new number i mean why would i go for sim swap option if wanted a new number How do i get my number back?? I had a contract and canceled had it on prepaid coz i wanted to keep my number!!!
