Dear Palesa
I'd like to explain the full story so you understand from the beginning.
On Friday 22nd September 2017 when I got up to get ready for work and took my cellphone in hand I noticed there was a message at the top left hand corner stating "Emergency calls only" . Since the reception in our area is not always that good I thought the message would go away once I got to my office. I then noticed that there was an X over the signal bar relating to the simcard. I did not receive any calls and the only time my WiFi seemed to work was when I was in a WiFi zone. I could not even call customer care/cell c so after work we rushed to our nearest Cell C store being the one at Davenport Square. The consultant suggested I try the sim in another phone so I did that but still no change so I went and bought a sim card and we tried to do a sim swap I inserted the new sim but still could not get through to Cell C.
On the Saturday someone called my husband Karl about the phone since the contract is in his name but I am the one using the phone all the time. The consultant told him they could not assist him with a sim swap (sim card I'd bought the evening before) and had to go to a store. I also complained on Facebook about the lack of assistance and being told to go to a Cell C store which is what I did already and that was of no help to me. They insisted I go to a Cell C store. Since we had already planned to go away for the weekend I thought I would try and find a Cell C store in Estcourt where we were passing through but neither Estcourt, Ladysmith, Dundee nor Vryheid had Cell C stores that anyone knew of. So we on our way home on Monday evening 25th September went to Cell C at Gateway. The consultant over the phone had told Karl that they could unblock the phone at the store but the lady at the Cell C store in any case told Karl to call customer care. Then he spoke to customer care and they also told him the phone is blocked. We cannot seem to establish why the number has been blocked from Friday already and also for what reason? I have probably been missing a lot of calls since I do use this number as my main point of contact. I work in film and costumes and my phone usually rings all day long. I find the service unacceptable. There appears to be no real explanation from Cell C as to why the number has been blocked. It has been a huge inconvenience to us. I would like to request that Cell C now offers an explanation and even calls my husband to give that explanation. I really am hoping that there will be no need for a sim swap after all once my number has been unblocked.
I am looking forward to your response.
Best Regards
Patrick Flynn
