Cell is an example of a bully

Cell C service is just bad. Now I had my account handed over to debt collectors for no reason. here is a background story. 6 February I called Cell to serve a cancellation notice for 6 March. My overall outstanding balance was R378 which would be settled off by the February installment. In addition to the above I paid R150 for device insurance and it all worked out to 528. My device insurance would also fall away on 6 March at the end of my contract. On the 25th of February my account was paid as normal, supposedly this concluded my agreement with Cell C. To my surprise on the 25th March Cell C debited my account for R528. This amount included the device insurance, the device itself and benefits. In March my number was already a prepaid number and my phone was not insured. The question is what was I paying because my contract with cell c concluded on the 6th of March 2023. I called Cell C for clarity but the consulted gave me an incoherent explanation. I proceeded to my bank to reverse the debit order. My reasoning is this, even if there were outstanding amount that amount should not have been the exact same installment as the amount I paid for the duration of my contract. The insurance had fallen off and the device was fully paid, then how did cell c reach the R 528?

To my surprise again, this morning Cell c handed over my account to debt collectors. No decency whatsoever to call me first but because they are a big bully nah they handed over my account. I refuse to pay R528 and I am prepared to approach to fight this.

I am disgusted by your poor comprehension of professionalism.

This response from cell c is dishonest.

First of all, the contract requires that you serve cell c 30 days notice before the expiry of a contract. this notice is to prevent to contract to go beyond its expiry day. I did that on 6 February 2023.

Why did cell c continue to load benefits beyond the agreed date? 6 March marked exactly 24 months of the contract I signed and I honoured my contract. To force benefits beyond 6 March was a bridge of contract and I am not responsible for that.

secondly, Cell c debited my account for R528 for March which I reversed through my bank, this amount is the same amount I paid for the duration of my contract which also included R150 for the device insurance.

It worth noting that Cell c device insurance runs concurrently with the duration of the phone insured as part of the contract. As of 6 March 2023, my phone was not insured, why did cell c charged me for the full amount when I was only insured for 5 days in March.

Thirdly, After the 25 January payment the outstanding balance in my account was R328 which became R0 after the payment on 25 February. When Cell c billed me R528 for 25 March what where they billing me for because my device was already fully paid, my insurance had fallen away and at that time I had no contract with Cell c?

I am looking forward to your response
