Cell C vetting me without my permission

I am very upset right now. My husband got a call from Cell C and we're offering him a phone. It declined and they said to him "is your wife so and so and he said yes, then they said well is accepted her" I got a message saying they vetted me with my ID number without my permission. How is this possible. Is this how it works Cell C? You just take my ID number and check on me? What does POPI say about this? I want answers cause I will not let this go.
