Cell C Upgrade request
I sent the below to Cell C customer service a week ago and no one has yet contacted me...
Good day
I am due for an upgrade on the number ***. However this is being declined by Cell C’s ‘internal’ score reflecting on zero.
I went under debt review early 2021. However I was advised that I will still be able to do upgrades on my Cell C contract, as long as the amount of the contract in not more that what it currently is.
Also that the Cell C contracts are service agreements and not credit agreements. And should therefore not be affected by my debt review. Further more my Cell Contract were included in my expenses when I app**** for debt review.
I have been a well paying customer for 20 years. I currently have 4 contract with Cell C. Before I went on debt review I had a very good credit score and never defaulted on any of my accounts. However with the difficult financial situation and that fact that I go divorced, I had not other option to go under debt review before I became what you would see as a ‘bad’ paying client.
I am not applying for a new contract, or even trying to change the contract itself, but just simply wanting to upgrade to whatever handsets available on my existing contract.
I do not understand why I am barred from doing an upgrade? Please may I ask for a detailed explanation on how your process works in deciding why I am not allowed to upgrade. I know of quite a few people that managed to do their upgrades with Cell C while under debt review. As well as with Vodacom and MTN.
I have tried talking to a sales consultant and your call centre and nobody can give me a detailed explanation.
This is really disappointing.
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We do understand your frustrations however, Cell C has changed their Upgrade policies. You need to be credit vetted and must have a healthy credit history before you can be granted an upgrade.
