Cell C tried to charge me R5k more than the agreed deal and it has cost them a contract renewal

I have been a Cell C customer for over 20 years...and I am now wondering for how long

A few weeks ago I went in to renew my contract after several reminders from my local store and their call centre. I was waiting for a good deal. Finally they had one...trade in your old hand set and get a Samsung S23FE on a. discounted rate. The agreed price was either R299 for 36 months or R399 for 24 months. I opted for the R399 over 24 months.

I filled in all the paperwork, but the local store didn't have the handset. They told me it would be in later that week. They then call me on Monday to say that my ID photo looks different to my latest passport photo (which I have never given them, so not sure how they got that, which is rather alarming). The reality is I had lost 12 kg between photos...it was obviously the same person...just a little thinner. This delay meant that I couldn't pick up my phone. By the time they had cleared this all up a day or two later, I was in Johannesburg on business. I arranged to come and collect the phone 3 days later when I was back in Durban. More paperwork was required, which I duly acknowledged being told about terms and conditions which required my signature. The next step was the exchange of phones. After I have signed everything, I then get informed that the price has gone up by a R100 per month as of the 15th. Note...not before I signed, but after I signed. This is not honourable...this is not how you do business. I duly requested all the signed documentation, and will be visiting Vodacom and MTN to look for a suitable alternative.
