Cell C tricks you into subscribing for content services

I recently discovered that I was being billed for content services on a contract that I took out with Cell C for a family member. On further investigation I discovered that whenever you went onto the internet, the cell c web site would open automatically and redirect you to a specific tab. On this tab you have to click your selection to continue or not. However, the wording is such that you have to read carefully, as it leads one to think that you are confirming that you want to cancel, but instead you are subscribing.

For someone whose first language is English it is tricky to understand. For someone whose English is sketchy it is practically impossible.

The fact that this company would trick their customers into subscribing to unnecessary and expensive content is ********. Surely it is ******** to behave in this way?

Hi Veronica
Cell C is a network provider not a content service provider and cannot trick you into subscribing to such services. It is ********* for content service providers to subscribe you to their services without your consent. You can block all existing content billing by dialing *133*1#
We will get one of our consultants to contact you and assist.

I appreciate the fact that Cell C responded so quickly. However, I find that they are not really interested in the customer, but rather in making excuses and trying to absolve themselves of any blame. I am given a number to dial to block content billing, BUT Cell C allow these companies to operate through them and Cell C deduct charges ON THEIR BEHALF FROM MY ACCOUNT. That is collusion.
