I received a call fom Cell C call centre agent Floyd Kelly on 24 August 2022 who tried to sell me a new cellphone/data contract which i declined based on my affordability. He kept on begging me to take the contract, but I still declined until he changed tune by saying he can reduce my existing cellphone package amount which is a 1gb, 60 minutes, 1000 sms pinnacle costing R268,00 pm to R199, 00pm. My benefits would increase to 10gb data, 600minutes talktime and 1000smss. I agreed as that would save me money. We agreed that my debit order would remain in place with the reduced amount and only collected on 30 Sept 2021, because the current one would still be collected. I have another cell c data contract for R189, 00pm. He couriered a new simcard that he said will replace my old one, and my number would stay the same. On 30 August 2021 I contacted the call centre to find out more after receiving the sim. I was told that the sim was already activated with a new number *** and i must just insert it in my phone. I refused as i was not informed of a new number by Kelly. They told me my 'new' contract was R599, 00pm. Shocked, i objected to this and immediately requested a cancellation. They told me it was not possible and i have to wait for my debit order to go off, before i can cancel. I asked to speak to Kelly who was not available at the time. The agent sent him an email and he called me back on 02 September 2021. I told him that he misled me to beleive that he could save me money. He rejected my version. I told him to cancel the deal which he said was impossible, but later agreed. He promised to update me, but failed to do so. Fedup I called again on 03 Sept 2021 and complaint to Cell C. I was informed that Cell C will have to listen to the call of 24August and give me feedback which never happened. Thato sms'd me a reference *** which later turned out to be **** when i visited Southgate Mall Cell C store to check progress. A new ref *** was issued by the call centre. On 16 Sept 2021 cell c debited my bank account with R1038,99, but returned unpaid although I had sufficient funds. I called them and complained about the failed transaction. I also went to the same store and complained. On the 16 October 2021 Cell C again unsuccesfully debited my account with R2051,37 due to insufficient funds and again I complained. Nobody was able to explain the middle of month debits and why this high amounts. However, i later learnt that my debit order date was changed without my permission. In the meantime I received many threatening emails from Cell C Collections department. My bank also charged me R115,00 for each returned debit order so far costing me in excess of R345,00. I already received notification of the intended next debit date of 16 November 2021. On 21 Oct 2021 i submitted an affidavit, bank statement and ID copy as per their instruction for apparently for the ***** department. I never received any updates. I find myself being billed for a contract that doesn't exist. On 28 Oct 2021 I called cell c to cancel my debit order and informed them that I will make direct deposit. The agent confirmed that my debit order request was succesful. On 31 Oct 2021 my data contract debit order for R189, 00 was collected, but not my cellphone contract for R268, 00. On 03 November 2021 I made a direct deposit of R 342,00 in respect of the uncollected debit order for 30 Sept 2021 which included my R29 Whatapp bundle and R45 MiAssist emergency policy which i have since cancelled due to Cell Cs unfair business behaviour and R268, 00 in respect of the uncollected debit order for 31 Oct 2021. I visisted my bank on 10 Nov 2021 to try and stop the debit order, but they referred me to Cell C. I decided to pop in at Cell C and low and behold the debit orders was still on their system. I took a screenshot of the computer with permission of the consultant. There were three items under my profile: my two active contracts plus the third one *** which shows 'permanently deactivated' with start date 27/08/2021. Interestingly my primary number has been barred since i made the payments. My data contract shows that i am paying in cash, while my cellphone contract as well as the deactivated number show direct debit. If the nr was indeed deactivated when in August 2021 why does it increase monthly. The screen also shows that my outstanding balance is R1825, 75 seemingly an adjustment from the two direct payments. I did not give cell c permission to debit my account on the 16 day of any month as my debit order has always been the last day of the month considering our agreement eversince i became a client. I was also told on 30 Aug 2021 that I am liable for one month before the contract can be cancelled, why the increased rol*****s then. Everytime i call them and demand to speak to seniors they are always not available. Cell C is not a reliable company and I would not recommend them anymore as i have done in the past. Why can't a debit order not be cancelled anyway. I have the proof that my data contract shows cash payment why am i being debited. Why bar my cellphone if my contract is not in arrears. The cell nr in dispute was deactivated, but now i must pay for errors created by their own. The Cell C agents have mentioned the word ***** everytime ive spoken to them. Why? Because it was one of their own that created this ***** and Cell C seem to protect him, this Floyd Kelly guy. He should be dragged before a disciplinary hearing and fired, but maybe he's one their best liers. On 05 Nov 2021 i called cellc again and the consultant refused to give me his name, when i ask him to provide the contact details of Cell C's CEO before hanging up in my ear. I would love to speak to the CEO informing him of Cell C's *********** staff. These people cause more harm than help. Thanks for informing the world.
