Cell C Store tries to cover up damage to my cellphone screen
Despite waiting 6 months, i have still not received a proper response to my query/complaint. my Huawei P20 lite was only 3 days old when the battery started heating. i called the store immediately and was told the assistant manager will call me. few days later i called back, and was casually told to bring the phone to book for repairs. on 1 December, I took the phone to Cell C Liberty Mall. there was an overall network problem on that day therefore the phone could not be booked in. i was told it will be done by that Monday. Since I did not receive any correspondence from the store, i called them. the assistant manager told me she booked the phone for the heating battery, however my screen also has a crack. i told her it cant be cos there was no crack on my screen when i left the store. i told her to book the phone cos i need the battery to be sorted out. On 14 Dec 2019, I was called by the cell c repair center and quoted R1700 only for the screen to fix the phone. she told me I have to pay for the screen repair then only they can check the battery. i explained to her then that my screen was not cracked so i cant pay for it cos when i left the store there the screen was fine. she told me she will liaise with the store and ask them to call me. despite all my calls to the store, i could not get a response, no even to my email. the manager Sunil just ignored my communication. i then called in January to follow up and he casually told me my phone is in store - i can collect it. i asked if it had been repaired. he just said i does not know. i went to pick up the phone only to find that the screen had a line crack and the battery was not repaired. the devise was sent back without it even being touched cos they did not receive a response from the store. at this point i was very disappointed. the store assistant Bree told me to keep the device as is. she will speak to the manager to see what they can do. Weeks went by with no response yet i called the store every week. eventually Bree told me to send an email to customer care since the manager is not responding. Even after the email to customer care, the query was escalated to the Franchise Customer Services Liason, a few more months passed. the response that i got, to me, looked like the store was trying to cover up what happened and kept pointing out that the assistant manager told me my screen was cracked before booking the phone for repairs. i kept telling them that the screen was not cracked when i left the store. i kept in contact with Suhana from the Franchise Customer Services Liason, who was still unable to get someone to resolve my query. i need the Midlands store to take ownership of the crack on my screen. they only reason i took my phone to the store is because the battery was overheating within 3 days of purchasing the phone. its been over 6 months now and i am still battling to resolve this this issue. i hope that now i will get feedback
