Cell C *****s 7 GB and 240 minutes, tells client to purchase more, how many other cases are there?
A while ago I phoned the call centre and explained that I couldn't access certain telephone numbers although I had airtime and hundreds' of minutes. She rep**** that those were special numbers and said I had to buy additional airtime for that purpose. I obliged and bought for R50 but still couldn't dial those numbers. On 24 May I phoned the call centre to explain my problem. Mbali said her colleague clearly gave me the wrong airtime or didn't know her job as she added normal airtime, instant voice, instead of new voice. I asked her to cancel my purchase of R50, or convert the airtime but Mbali said she could do neither, I just had to buy new airtime. I protested as airtime of R75 was added to my account without me being able to use it. I asked to speak to a supervisor, Mbali put me on hold but didn't return to our call. After waiting for 20 minutes I hung up. The same day another agent, Mfundo Tshabalala, phoned to offer me more data at R199. He confirmed that my current, additional, promotional data of 10 GB and 240 minutes would end on 1 June. I was aware of that since I check my balances very frequently. He also mentioned that Cell C's midnight data runs from midnight to 06:00. On 27 May, Sam pointed out that this was incorrect and misleading as the midnight data runs from 23:00 - 05:00. On 27 May 2021 I noticed that my remaining 7GB and 240 minutes that I saved and was planning to use during the last few days of the month, disappeared. I phoned the contact centre and explained my predicament to Lungile. She then said that I failed my security check and had to find the correct answers before I phoned again! How could I pass my security check on Monday and fail it on Thursday?! I immediately went to the Cell C outlet close to me and explained my problems to Sam, who said that my promotional data and minutes expired on the 26th, although the SMS's said 1 June! We as clients perform balance checks and trust the information that the service provider provides. I had no way of knowing that the information I receive is incorrect, false or misleading. I use this information to plan and manage my consumption of my data and minutes and saved it so that my kids could use it for Google classroom as many schools are currently closed or closing, and used my data and minutes from another provider for the first part of the month. Now that Cell C simply removed the data and minutes that rightfully belong to me, my kids do not have the crucial access for 5 days! (27-31 May) Sam said that the 7GB and 240 minutes would not be returned to me and that I simply had to purchase more data and minutes, as well as airtime to dial the number that she gave me where I could lodge a complaint for the record. It is clear that Cell C instructs their staff to tell frustrated clients that "nothing can be done" to solve the problem, except buying more services. This is highly *********, especially in the current economic environment where many people, including myself, have lost their incomes. It is also clear that Cell C is running a ruthless campaign to increase there revenue by forcing clients to pay for services that already belong to them, making them pay double. I am convinced that it is a strategy to regain additional income that they have lost because of the pandemic. Think of all the millions they make extra every month by milking their clients in this dishonest manner! We do not need sly providers like Cell C that operates in such an underhanding manner. It is best if they close down once and for all. I am so glad that I have already cancelled two other Cell C contracts! Cell C, refund me R50 for my airtime and add the 7GB and 240 minutes to my account!
