Cell C sslling substandard Routers
I have a 24 month,100G data contract account with Cell C which I took up in November/December 2018. The contract came with a router. Within a few months, the router failed with no signal. I took it back to Kenilworth Cell C where I had got it from, after a month without the router, it was replaced because it had a factory defect. Again in February 2020, the 2nd router failed again, it just would not give out a signal. I took it back to Cell C and it was sent away for repairs. When I went to enquire as to the progress, I was told to pay over R700 for repairs/replacement for the router. My complain is that why should I be asked to pay when Cell C is dishing out substandard routers to it's clients then ask them to pay for repairs. How can 2 routers fail in within 18 months when all one does is plug it in the house in one place and use it from there? There is no physical damage on the router, it just lost signal which means there is absolutely no negligence from the consumer involved. This is very unfair on the part of cell C and needs to be addressed Ref I was given was WPCAP372855 and the number in question ***. I then asked to be released from my contract as I am not using the data but they then asked that I pay R300 as a release penalty. Currently the sim card does not work so I am not using any data but they still debit my account. My conclusion is that cell C does not care for it's clients once one is hooked on their contract. Getting their call centre is like climbing Mt Everest, it's a struggle.
