Cell C sim swap broke my heart
I have been using my number since I was 15years old now, I'm 29. I lost my sim card yesterday and I failed security tests for sim swap. I was told to do to go to the Cell C store, I went and I was told that my ID didn't RICA my number and I'm going to loose my number. I was 15 I had no ID book yet and those sim cards were already RICAd in the village. This is so unfair, I can't just loose the number I had all my life. All I need is my number back please.

We do understand your frustration. As per RICA legislation we can only assist you with a SIM swap if the number is in your name and was being actively used by you. You also need to pass the mandatory security check before we can action the SIM swap for you. There is a lot of ***** when it comes to SIM swaps and that is why we take the necessary steps to protect you as the customer as well as Cell C.

18 Oct 2021, 14:12OK I get that, and I have been actively using the number all these years. so what do I do now? What is the way forward for me? Some of those questions are weird, I never count how many times I take emergency airtime thou. What is the way forward? I'm not willing to loose the number.

Her patience is amazing!. I loved how she took me through all the security questions, explained them nicely and making sure that I understand each question before I answer it, then she waits for me while I go through my SMSs, and counting all the dates etc.. She made me feel very important.
