Cell C service is pathetic.

Cell C service is pathetic. Lack of knowledge and lack of technical s****s. They need to urgently recruit sufficient s****ed network technicians. Help desk staff not able to interpret complaints correctly.

Problem 1: It seems to me (from all the comments) that Cell C is having wide-spread problems. It does not look like their typical responses of "in your area" holds much water. In my personal opinion (I am not a legal expert), this is "breach of contract", and as such warrants myself to opt out of their contract (12 months "sentence" of 24 months already served) without any penalties. I also think I am entitled to a refund on my monthly LTE-A and LTE data subscriptions, due to the lack of proper service over the past couple of months.

The service started with a good experience for first 2 to 3 months, but since Feb 2019 my experience has been highly frustrating, with gradual deterioration (and intermittent service) until most recent complete outage that has now been in effect since last week Wed 6 Nov 2019. A call was then logged with Cell C on Thu 7 Nov 2019 (***).

I also went to the Cell C shop in Woodland Boulevard (Pretoria) on Sat 9 Nov 2019, planning to give them back the router (and planning to instruct my bank to prevent then from taking any further money from me). The shop manager (Emmanual) then asked me to give them until latest Wed 13 Nov 2019 to resolve the issue. He raised a SD (SD ref 870642) and also recorded the call reference numbers logged by others in my area. Apparently the SD number is different from a normal call reference number.

The shop manager also indicated that they would happily terminate the contract with no penalties if they could not resolve the issue, based on the SD reference, by latest Wed 13 Nov 2019.

I am hoping today or tomorrow will see a fix, but i am not getting my hopes up.

If Cell C does not make some serious efforts, I suspect they may be in for some serious company challenges.

Problem 2: In addition to lack of signal issues, there is also a general issue in some areas while travelling by car. When travelling, one expects an automatic resume of service when one leaves the coverage area of one tower, and entering the coverage area of another tower. However, this is not happening automatically in all areas. In some cases, I need to reboot my cellphone before it picks up the signal. It is not a lack of signal, but something about the service that is preventing the roaming to work properly between different towers. This is not a problem with the cellphone, because it happens on more than one device, and also is not a problem in all areas. The issue is most prevalent in rural areas (Tierpoort, Bapsfontein, outlying areas of Kempton Park, etc).

Problem 3: Have had unrestricted APN enabled on my Cell C LTE-A service, but cannot reach my LTE-A modem administration page from another Cell C 4 G sim card when at work. The irony is that I can actually reach the modem administration page from a MTN sim card. The help desk cannot even comprehend what I am trying to explain to them, let alone resolve the issue. Furthermore, the calls related to this issue have been closed despite never being resolved. Highly ********* in my opinion.
