Cell c service

Can someone please help me with this. On Thursday I logged a complaint because I have been trying to resolve a issue with cell c since 2017.on friday 14 june 2019 someone called me and advised that this has now been resolved I dont owe them anything and they will send me a paid up letter and also update my credit bureaus. The reason for me resolving this so that I can take steps to secure a better future for myself and already informed banks that it will be settled. Keep in mind this is on a recorded line.i didnt get anything and logged another complaint.i get a call back on Thursday 20 june 2019 and I am now told I owe 5700 rand. And i will be held liable for this.why was i then advised on a recorded line that I dont owe anything. What is my next steps. Do I take legal action.
