Cell C ****med me into 2nd contract by saying it was a phone upgrade

I am now at my wits end with Cell C! Below is an message I posted on their Facebook page (one of SEVERAL strongly worded messages) and the latest one is to their CEO, and despite being told I will be contacted, they still have not had the decency to do so. I was ****med into a second contract with them. Their agent told me it was a phone upgrade and so I went along with it. Never EVER would I have signed a second contract just to get a new phone. That is not how I operate. Below is the message I addressed to Mr Douglas Cragie Stevenson - to which the silence has been deafening!

16 November 2020 To the CEO, Cell C, Mr Douglas Craigie Stevenson Dear Mr Douglas Stevenson I am addressing this message to you in the hope that I will get this very annoying matter dealt with because, as you will read below, I am not getting any response from your employees and this matter is now dragging on and another month will have past and another debit order taken from my account: On or about the 15th September I received a call from one of the ladies at the call centre whom I believe was Michelle (surname unknow). I first asked her if this was a marketing call and she said no it was about my phone upgrade. I thought it a bit strange as my phone was only due for an upgrade in a few month’s time, however she assured me it was a phone upgrade so I continued to listen to her call and after some time she gave me the phone choices and prices and I went with the Samsung A31 for R482.14. I still said to her that this was a lot cheaper than my current phone so I was game to upgrade to a cheaper option. HOWEVER….it appears that I was ****med into a NEW contract and NOT a phone upgrade!! I have been in contact with Cell C several times (reference no.n*** and ***) I have also left several strongly worded messages on Cell C’s facebook page as this seems the only way to get any response from them. So, for the past 10 days, a person by the name of Moses, has phoned me only on the odd occasion when I have left these messages. He first phoned me and said he would be looking for the recorded message, which he apparently duly found and then tried to play back to me on the 6th November 2020. I couldn’t hear a word so he asked me to please give him till the 8th November as he would be working overtime and would phone me on the Sunday to play back the message. Well by the Tuesday 10th November I still hadn’t heard from him so I left a nice little message on your Facebook page (again) and was told he would be in contact with me shortly – here is the link to this message (https://www.facebook.com/CellC.SouthAfrica/posts/***?comment_id=***&notif_id=***&notif_t=comment_mention&ref=notif ). Well he did phone me back and said the technical team were working on sending an audio file to him and I must give him till Thursday 12th November. We are now on the 16th November and guess what Mr Stevenson? I have had absolutely NO response from Cell C. In the interim I have cancelled my long standing contract with your company (yet another customer lost due to the incompetence of Cell C!) and I demand a response from you on the above matter regarding this new “contract” I was ****med into. I would NEVER have signed up to a new contract with one already in place! I do not want another contract and I will be instructing my bank to put a stop to the payment on this so called new contract and you can arrange to have the phone collected from me as soon as possible. If this is how you treat your long standing customers, heaven only knows how you treat your new ones. It is a shame that one has to resort to such a level of frustration by posting messages on your social media platform to be able to get any response at all. And the responses one gets is like an empty promise – nothing ever happens. No wonder Cell C is battling. Just by looking at the thousands of complaints on Hello Peter’s platform (which, by the way, is my next step from here should I not get a response from you) is shocking to say the least – thousands upon thousands of complaints! Such a poor show. I a shocked, disappointed and angry! Do you think I would be making such a fuss over a new contract if I had wanted a second one? No ways would I but the mere fact that I was coerced into this second contract, I will not be quiet and I will make it loud and clear and known to all out there what a disgrace Cell C is and I await your urgent response to this matter. You have my number and my email address and you are welcome to contact me, however I prefer responses in writing, not recorded messages that only your company has access to. Yours sincerely Lyndsay McEwan

Perhaps posting it on Hello Peter might get them to respond and by the way, the one star I had to give them is hereby subtracted! They don't deserve any stars at all!!

Reviewer Update
so here is an update....Sihle Qhasha from Cell C head office contacted me regarding my message above. He said he understood my frustrations and after a lengthy conversation he said he was going to transfer my call to the Retention Department. I asked him what they were going to do and he said to me they would reverse the contract. So after holding on the line whilst I was transferred, I was actually put through to their customer care line and not the Retention Department. The lady at Customer Care said she would transfer me through to them, but guess what? I was cut off (can't tell you how many times this has happened in the past few weeks!) I then had to phone into Cell C's retention department and had to repeat the whole story again! The lady said I can cancel my contract but I have to pay them over R6000!!!! I am afraid I lost it! Does the left hand know what the right hand is doing at Cell C? They say I agreed to this new contract - No, actually, I agreed to a phone upgrade but which they have opened up as a new contract! So over this whole saga now, I think it is time to contact the Consumer Protection for their assistance. Does Cell C think I would be making such a fuss if this was about a phone upgrade???? No I am making such a huge noise because I was ****med into a new contract with a new phone number! If Sihle Qhasha does not respond to my email I sent him over 2 hours ago and marked urgent, I WILL contact the Consumer Protection. So over this now!
