CELL C SA - Says I owe them over R2 000 and cannot explain the balance. No one t CELL C has bothered to give me a contact which i may call to discuss my account.
I have been trying to reach CELL C for months now. I still have not gotten any proper feedback. CELL C says I owe them over R2000. I do not know how. I have yet, in over 5 months, to find a person from CELL C who can explain this balance nor try to resolve what is going on. Nor even try to make a payment arrangement. Very Strange. Read below to understand my story.
* In September 2019 I took a phone contract with CELL C (Sandton City). My contract agreement was R289 for a Huawei P30 lite phone. In December 2019 i left my job. Meaning i no longer had an income. As at 31 January 2020, that was my last payment since i left my job. February and March 2020 I could not settle my monthly payments. It was HARD (The Economy i guess) .
* As at 31 April 2020 my Father made a payment of R300 and therefore I arranged with CELL C that i will be assisted financially by my Father every month to pay R300 to Cell C there onwards. Meaning in April when my father paid, i was 2 months outstanding. My statement end of April was R423.91 before my Father paid R300.
* In May 2020 my statement balance (outstanding ) went from R423.99 in April 2020 to R1 955.44 in May 2020. That's almost R2,000. How did it get all the way there? And from May 2020 onwards CELL C has been using this new R1 955.44 balance as the new basis for my account balance (i guess) i can only guess because no one has contacted me.
* In May 2020 my Father deposited money into my account. Before i knew it a debit order of R300 by "NUDEBTxx" (the xx being my account number and reference when I make payments to CELL C) occurred. I was shocked that CELL C knew to take R300 as per the new arrangement because i had told them that my Father would pay them manually. They did not tell me that a debit order of R300 will be processed. Although that was strange, i kept quiet because either way my father was going to pay anyway so thats when i told him .."Oh since CELL C made a debit order of R300 i guess from now on well just make sure i have R300 in my account instead of him paying them manually. Now fast forward to September 2020. Meaning all this time from April 2020 to August 2020 R300 was paid over to Cell C though debit orders even.
* In September 2020 i found a job and i decided before the month ends, let me go to CELL C and discuss this balance so that i can find a way to go back to my original payment of R289 as per my phone contract and have a proper budget for them once we agreed on the balance. I went to the CELL C store in Kolonade Pretoria twice that month. The first time i spoke with a lady who told me that the balance makes sense because of bouncing debit orders and i asked her if the penalty fee for a bouncing debit orders for 2 months can go from a balance of R423.99 to R1 955.44 and she decided to call another person from CELL C. That person could not assist either. That lady said that my account was handed over so even if i go to another store, no one can see my details up to a certain date and therefore cannot assist me. She told me to call customer care. I told her ive been calling for a while an no one can explain anything. I told her that the fact that my account was handed was big news to me and was very disappointed that CELL C did not communicate this with me before they handed over my account because i am still receiving my data every month so whats going on? And the lady told me that that was weird because if im handed over they block my phone or something and i told her that nope, i still get my data.
* At the end of September 2020 CELL C made a debit order of R1 500 from my account which i reversed. I went to the store at Kolonade to the an assistant about the debit order and to ask what it was for. I told the lady that ive been trying to call 084 135 with my phone but everytime aim supposed to speak to a counsultant CELL C ends my call. The lady tried to make a call ans saw my issue and gave me her phone from CELL C to make the call and it went throuhg. Mind hasnt been going through for months.
* The lady on the call told me that shes Logded a complaint or something and that the legal department will contanct me. So this means that in SEptember I did not make a payment of R 300 and ireversed CELL Cs debit order of R1500 from my account.
* I wanted to get to solid figure before i give cCELL C any more money because they dont even make an effort to let me know that my account was handed over and no one at the store can see my transactions up to a certain date.
Like, who am I supposed to contact here? I am customer , yet i am the one tryi for tng to chase them down so that i can organise my account and keep up to date, I thought it usually the other way around where a business is trying to get a customer to settle their accounts. Who is going to tell me whats going on with this account? Do i need to take legal action? How do i proceed tp keep paying someone who doesnt ven know whatsgoing on with my account or who knows but does not have a professional decency to say hey, weve handed over your account for not paying R289 for 2 months and these are the numbers you should call to make a settlement. I dont get it.
* CELL C ha blocked my network as at October 2020. My calls are not going through and my internt isnt working.
I hope that posting on HelloPeter will be the magical wand that will make them wiggle and give me a call for goodness sakes so that they tell me whats going on with my account. I just want to close it and never work with CELL C again. i wanted to take a new PC because CELL C is cheaper but i think ill stick to VODACOM after all of this mess honestly.
This is one of the reference numbers ive received throughout my many attempts to reach CELL C ***
My account reference is ***
I hope someone will help me end this. Thank HelloPeter.
