Cell C roaming *******

Did you know when you have roaming activated and you do not answer a call whilst out the country, you will pay R97.00 each time anyone leaves a voice message!... even if you don't retrieve the voice message you pay R97.00. I have been with Cell C since they started and never been billed for this, until last month. So if someone calls to sell you insurance - R97! If a friend calls to ask how you are - R97. You have not received the call, not retrieved the voicemail... yet still liable for the charges from SA to wherever you are. In return CellC does not even store the message for when you return. Talk about taking something for nothing! I have phoned the helpline, written emails, gone into 3 different stores to talk to a manager - what a waste of time. Not ONE returned call. By the way, my reference no is 81 ********** 9. Why should I pay an exorbitant rate in exchange for absolutely nothing, and at no cost to the provider either. Fine service in exchange for nearly 20 years of loyalty.

Thank you for your swift reply. I note you ignore the issues that I raise. 1) obviously I pay for incoming and outgoing calls whilst roaming. I have no issue with this. 2) If I do not retrieve a voicemail you still charge me. And no doubt would charge more were I to retrieve the message. Why, if the voicemail is left in SA, should I pay R97.00 to not receive it? That is the issue! Lastly, when I signed up for international roaming I informed all and sundry (at Cell C as well) this was just for last resort/emergency calls. I hope never to use it. So - I don't make calls whilst roaming, I don't receive calls except from family (and none were made or received during the applicable period), and I do not retrieve voicemails while roaming. Yet you charge me R97.00 each time an unknown party leaves a message for me. And whats more the caller has paid their service provider to put the message on my voicemail. In other words Cell C charges R97.00 for absolutely nothing. How can that be? I am feeling **********.

As a result of HelloPeter complaint FINALLY got a response from Cell C. Nice enough chap called as a result of my HelloPeter complaint - so thumbs up to HelloPeter, and it must be said, well done to cell C for responding, albeit a month late. Referred to Cell C T's and C's... It specifically says one pays to retrieve voicemails, but DO NOT mention that one still pays if you don't retrieve messages! At R97.00 per time! If ten telesales people call and leave voicemail thats nearly R1 000! Last months bill was R1 350.00. Out the country the whole month and never used the phone! Imagine how much they make each month from voicemails alone!!!
